For lasting success, the beliefs of others must be discovered & put ahead of our own.

Marketing Applications

Your gap in the market is taking clients from who they are to who they want to be

If we do not know how our audience thinks, why they think the way they do and perhaps more importantly, have an awareness that our own ego and assumptions always colour our approach, then promotional efforts are often at the mercy of luck and accidental good timing. Which is expensive and unnecessary.

Human behaviour awareness is not complicated and it enables everyone to take their marketing to the next level. Here is a good quality control question for you to get started with today. Before any marketing efforts become public, ask yourself or your team:
“is what we are creating or about to physically do, going to draw our audience towards us or push them away?”
Ensure the answer is explanatory, not merely yes or no.

NB positive engagement is not automatic. You will be fully aware that the mere deployment of websites, social media, and other online or offline activities does not guarantee success, no matter the effort or expense. Something is missing and that is often an understanding of human behaviour. This understanding is second nature for many people, others need a little guidance, but with it, they can get the same results.

A human nature & behaviour focus applied across marketing creatives and personal interactions will result in clients being compelled to look upon your business offerings and you or your representatives far more favourably.

It is vital to appreciate what draws your audience in and equally important, understand what makes them take a step back. This is what will help you move beyond the marketing chaos of price wars, company damaging tactics and buyers remorse.

Rise above the chaos of business life & office politics

We often lose our identity as the business machine takes over and cognitive dissonance often results in us self sabotaging our business potential.

When we begin to struggle to know who we are and what we stand for, then those we are looking to influence – staff, clients, associates et al – will subconsciously pick up on this and they can become wary of doing business with us or take advantage of perceived weakness.

Businesses run on relationships and as with personal relationships problems often arise from not fully listening to another or not feeling listened by another, both result in disharmony, negative energy and endless fire fighting.

We all get drawn into a battles of wills and egos however, with an understanding of human behaviour we can begin to notice when such situations are arising, then with a little practice we can begin to competently assess and handle high emotion events without appearing weak or becoming overbearing.

An understanding of how the brain and body react to stress and that it is a natural defence mechanism enables us to accept another’s emotional reality without owning it ourselves. Truly seeing people for how they are and appreciating that they are reacting the only way they know how empowers us with far more clarity and emotional balance to move forward.

Personal Applications

More often than not, we just need to get out of our own way

When we become aware of our own bias, ego, trigger points and preconceptions we begin to see where we muddy the waters during our internal conversations and during our interactions with others.

Understanding how our brain and body naturally react to various situations enables us to appreciate another’s actions from their perspective without becoming overwhelmed or pulled into their chaos. This ‘mental space’ often alleviates common place misunderstandings and conflict with others, resulting in all parties feeling heard and appreciated.

We can also begin to take in the world as it’s being presented to us, unfiltered by our preconceptions, we can take a mental step back and observe and participate without acting out in a way that does not serve us.

Furthermore, we begin to recognise when our internal state is not aligned with our external environment, we can discover why that may be the case and take intelligent steps to rebalance and reorientate ourselves.

The knowledge must 1st must be applied to ourself, it is on us to remove what we bring to the table, clarity starts from there, because other people are only one side of the behavioural coin, beating others intellectually or otherwise is never a maintainable solution.
